This is a Microbiology Department position only – will not rotate through other departments.

Day shift: 0600 to 1430, Monday through Friday with rotating weekends

Pay: commensurate with experience

Job duties:

Performs laboratory analyses of laboratory specimens as required; distributes test results to requesting unit, facility or physician. Accurately performs and records all clinical laboratory testing in area of assignment according to department procedural manuals.

Performs all clinical laboratory testing in area of assignment within expected time frames. Performs and records all required Quality Control and instrument maintenance procedures, taking appropriate action as needed, and alerting supervisory personnel as necessary. Troubleshoots problems and unusual situations using formal education and experience as a medical technologist. In the absence of onsite supervisory staff, may be required to assume a lead role. Ability to utilize a multi-line telephone system. Good communication skills with co-workers and external customers required. Ability to prioritize multiple job tasks. Maintains a professional approach to handling confidential information. Works with equipment, some very expensive. Ability to work any shift assigned though will have a set schedule - flexibility needed. Subject to call back or longer hours as necessary. Works rotating weekends and rare/few holidays. Ability to test and report on samples from patients of all ages. Computer literacy a must. Ability to read, write and understand English language.

BS degree with MT(ASCP) or equivalent (AMT, NCA, etc.). Proof of certification/registry required. Must meet physical demands of job including full color discrimination ability. Fast paced, smoke-free, drug-free work place. Prefer experienced microbiologist but will train new graduates if they are the right fit for the position.
